Deep Ecology Workshop with John Seed
September 24-25, 2011
Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 5pm
The Homestead, The Briars, Nepean Hwy, Mount Martha Mornington Peninsula
(with thanks to the Mornington Peninsula Shire and Cr. Reade Smith.)
On the weekend of 24-25 September, the Briars hosted a 2 day Deep Ecology workshop at the Homestead with 12 participants. John Seed, Elizabeth Downes and Rose Baillie co-facilitated this intensive program with much of the work conducted outside on the beautiful grounds of the historic venue. Participants experienced the planet and the universe through interactive processes, including the The Milling, Truth Mandala, Earth as Peppercorn, Breathing with Trees, Letter from Gaia, the Cosmic Walk and a Geological Grounding exercise examining Mount Martha’s geological makeup. The weekend was completed with the Council of All Beings; a roundtable discussion with participants enacting a role of a non-human creature, element or concept. The lively discussion stimulated much thought to end a truly insightful and enjoyable weekend.
